Description

If you train in shorts year-round, these kickboxing long pants are worth considering — especially if you train in a cold gym, want a bit more skin protection on the mat, or just prefer the look and feel of full-length training pants.

These are satin-finish polyester pants designed specifically for striking arts: kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA, and similar disciplines. They move with you, not against you — which matters when you’re throwing high kicks or working on your footwork.

Why satin for training pants?

Satin-weave polyester has a smooth surface that slides easily — useful when you’re moving on a mat or clinching with a partner. It’s also lightweight, which means your legs don’t feel weighed down during a long sparring session or pad work circuit.

Unlike heavier fabrics, these won’t trap heat the same way. That said, satin is a thin material, so if you’re looking for compression or muscle support, these aren’t that. They’re training pants, not compression tights.

Construction and fit

The waistband is 10cm wide with both elastic and a drawstring. That combination matters — elastic alone can roll or dig in during movement, but the drawstring lets you dial in the fit so the pants stay exactly where you want them. The wider band also distributes the pressure more evenly than a narrow elastic strip.

The design is black with a double red stripe down the outside of each leg. Clean, classic, practical — they look the part without being over the top.

Weight is 0.4kg, so they’re genuinely light on your body.

Who these are for

These suit anyone who wants a full-length training pant for striking arts. They work particularly well if you:

  • Train in a cooler environment and want more coverage than shorts provide
  • Prefer not to show shin guards under shorts during light training
  • Like the traditional long-pant look common in kickboxing and Muay Thai
  • Train on a hard floor and want your shins covered during ground drills

They’re also fine for casual wear or gym use outside of martial arts — the drawstring and comfortable fabric make them versatile.

What they’re not suited for

Be honest with yourself about what you need. These aren’t a good choice if you want compression support, or if your training involves a lot of grappling or ground work where a satin fabric can slip on mats. For BJJ or wrestling, you’d be better off with proper rash guards or spats.

Sizing

These come in Medium, Large, and XL. Check the size chart before ordering — martial arts sizing doesn’t always match standard clothing sizes, and getting the right fit matters more than you’d think when you’re training. The drawstring gives you a bit of flexibility in the waist, but length is fixed.

If you’re between sizes, go up rather than down. You want freedom of movement, not a snug fit through the hips and thighs.

Care

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Avoid hot water or high heat — satin polyester can lose its shape or sheen if you wash it hot. Don’t iron directly on the fabric.

Frequently asked questions

Are these suitable for BJJ or grappling?
Not ideal. Satin polyester can slide on rubber mats, and it doesn’t offer the stretch or durability of spats or rash guards. These are best for striking arts where you’re mostly on your feet.
Do they come in sizes smaller than Medium?
Currently available in M, L, and XL only. If you’re a smaller build, check the size chart carefully — Medium may still fit depending on your measurements.
Can I wear these over compression tights or shin guards?
Yes, the relaxed cut should accommodate thin compression tights underneath. Slim-profile shin guards worn underneath may also work depending on fit, though it’s worth checking how snug the leg opening is for your size.
How do I wash them without damaging the satin finish?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry. Hot water or a hot dryer can affect the fabric’s finish and fit. Treat them like any polyester sportswear — gentle and cool.
Are they true to standard clothing sizing?
Not always. Martial arts sizing can run differently from standard Australian clothing. Use the size chart as your guide and measure your waist and hips before choosing. If in doubt, size up.
Are these unisex or men’s cut?
These are cut as unisex/men’s style pants. Women who train in these typically size based on hip measurement rather than waist, since the drawstring handles waist adjustment. Check the size chart for hip measurements before ordering.
