Description
8oz Poly/Cotton V-neck Taekwondo Uniform
If you’re looking for a good everyday training uniform that won’t cost a fortune, this is probably it. Made from an 8oz poly/cotton blend, it’s the fabric that’s been the standard for club training doboks for decades — durable enough to handle regular washing and hard training, but light enough that you’re not sweating before the warm-up is over.
Available in two versions: plain white with no branding, or with the ITF logo at the centre front V. The no-branding option suits clubs with their own patches or anyone who prefers a clean look. The ITF logo version is the right choice for ITF practitioners who want the traditional uniform appearance.
Why poly/cotton works for training
Pure cotton doboks look great but they’re heavy when wet, slow to dry, and need ironing to look presentable. Pure polyester doboks wrinkle less but can feel clammy and don’t breathe as well. The poly/cotton blend sits in between — it breathes reasonably well, dries much faster than cotton, needs minimal ironing, and holds its shape over time.
At 8oz, this is a medium-weight fabric. It’s heavier than the lightweight competition doboks you see at tournaments, which means it’s more durable for daily training. It won’t last as long as a heavier canvas uniform, but it also costs a fraction of the price — which matters when you’re buying for a growing child or equipping a whole family.
Construction
The seams are double-stitched throughout. That’s the detail that separates uniforms that last from ones that start unravelling after a few months of training. When you’re throwing high kicks and dropping into deep stances regularly, the seams take a lot of stress — especially at the crotch and underarm.
The jacket is cut generously through the shoulders and chest. This matters more than people think. A jacket that’s too fitted across the shoulders restricts your arm movement when you’re chambering kicks or doing arm techniques. The generous cut means you get a full range of motion without the uniform pulling or riding up.
The pants have a full gusset — a diamond-shaped panel at the crotch that gives you room to move in all directions. Without it, deep stances and high kicks pull at the seams and restrict your range of motion. The elasticated waist comes with an inner drawstring so you can get the fit right, which is particularly useful for kids between sizes or anyone with a longer torso.
What’s included
Each uniform comes with the jacket, pants, and a white belt. The white belt is fine to get started, but most practitioners will be issued a specific belt by their instructor once they begin grading. If you need a replacement belt or a specific colour, those are sold separately.
Sizing
These uniforms use a two-number sizing system — the first is the size number, the second is the approximate height in centimetres the size is designed for. So size 0/130 is designed for a child around 130cm tall. Use height as your primary guide, not age — children of the same age can vary significantly in height.
The cut is generous, which is a good thing for martial arts — but it does mean that if your child is between sizes, it’s usually better to go with the smaller size rather than buying up. A uniform that’s too large looks baggy and can actually get in the way during training.
Sizes 0000/100 and 000/110 are for very young beginners, typically 3–5 years old. At this size, fit matters less because children grow so quickly — but a uniform that fits reasonably well will be easier for them to move in and less frustrating to put on and take off.

Care
Machine wash cold or warm (not hot — heat can cause shrinkage, especially in the first few washes). Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. The poly/cotton blend dries quickly on a line. A light iron on a medium setting will remove wrinkles if needed, though for most training purposes it’s not necessary.
Wash the uniform after every training session. This isn’t just about hygiene — sweat left in the fabric breaks down the fibres over time and shortens the life of the uniform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this uniform suitable for ITF Taekwondo competitions?
- The ITF logo version is suitable for club training and many local competitions. For national or international ITF events, check with your instructor or association about approved uniform specifications — some events require specific brands or heavyweight canvas uniforms.
- What’s the difference between the plain and ITF logo versions?
- The fabric, construction, and fit are identical. The only difference is the embroidered ITF logo at the centre front V on the jacket. The plain version has no branding, making it suitable for any Taekwondo style or for clubs that want to add their own patches.
- Does this shrink when washed?
- Some minor shrinkage can occur in the first wash or two, especially if washed in hot water. Wash in cold or warm water and tumble dry on low (or hang dry) to minimise shrinkage. If your child is between sizes, consider this when deciding whether to size up.
- How do I choose the right size?
- Use height as your guide — the second number in the size code is the approximate height in centimetres. For example, size 2/150 fits someone around 150cm tall. The cut is generous, so if you’re between sizes, the smaller size usually gives a better fit for training.
- Is this suitable for other martial arts?
- The V-neck collar is specifically for Taekwondo. It’s not suitable for Karate (which uses a different collar style) or BJJ. It could work for ITF-style martial arts that use a similar uniform style, but check with your instructor first.
- Is a coloured belt included?
- A white belt is included. Coloured belts for graded students are sold separately — most instructors issue belts as part of the grading process anyway, so you won’t need to buy one separately unless you specifically need a replacement.
