Description

BJJ Gi 350gsm Pearlweave Jacket and Ripstop Pants

A solid blue training gi if you want something that holds up to regular rolling. The 350gsm pearlweave jacket and 10oz ripstop pants are a practical combination — heavier than the lightweight options, built to last through years of training and frequent washing. Belt not included; this is jacket and pants only.

The Jacket

350gsm pearlweave is a common competition-weight fabric, and it’s heavier than the lightweight gis for a reason. The tighter weave distributes grip load across the fabric rather than concentrating it at one point, which is why pearlweave holds up better under repeated grip fighting than plain weave. At 350gsm it meets IBJJF minimum jacket weight requirements, so it’ll pass inspection at most competitions.

The collar is EVA foam, which keeps its shape through washing and rolling. Soft, floppy collars are a sign of a cheaper gi — this one stays consistent. The gi is pre-washed before sale, so minimal shrinkage is expected after purchase.

The Pants

10oz ripstop fabric with double-reinforced knees. Ripstop uses a grid of reinforcing threads woven through the material — if the fabric gets snagged or starts to tear, the damage stays contained to that section rather than running. The knees have a second layer of fabric at the area that takes the most wear during groundwork. The waistband uses an inner drawstring for a secure fit.

Competition Use

The gi meets IBJJF minimum jacket weight requirements (350gsm). If you’re competing under IBJJF rules, check the current ruleset before your event — rules can be updated and individual tournament officials make the final call on equipment. For most local and national competitions, this gi will be accepted.

Blue is one of the standard competition colours accepted across IBJJF and most other organisations.

Sizing

Sizes use a number/height format: the second number is your approximate height in centimetres. So 4/170 fits someone around 170cm tall. If you’re between sizes or carry more weight in your torso, size up — a slightly larger gi is easier to train in than one that’s too tight across the shoulders. Use the size chart on the product page as your starting point.

Jacket fit guide: lapels should cross with around 5–10cm of overlap. Sleeves should reach the wrist bone when arms are relaxed. Pants should sit around the ankle — too long and you’ll trip, too short and it may not pass academy rules.

Care

Wash cold (30°C maximum) on a gentle cycle after every session — don’t leave it sitting in your bag. Air dry only; the dryer will shrink the fabric and stiffen the weave. At 350gsm this gi holds more water than lighter options, so allow 24 hours or more to dry depending on your climate. If you train daily, two gis in rotation helps. Avoid fabric softener, which breaks down cotton fibres over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this gi come with a belt?
No. The set includes jacket and pants only. Belts are sold separately — you’ll need the colour that matches your rank.
Will this gi shrink after washing?
It’s pre-washed before sale, so minimal shrinkage is expected. Wash cold and air dry to keep it in the best condition. Avoid the dryer.
Is this gi legal for IBJJF competition?
Yes. The jacket is 350gsm, which meets the IBJJF minimum jacket weight requirement. Blue is an accepted competition colour. Check the current IBJJF ruleset before your event as rules can be updated, and individual tournament officials make the final call.
How does the sizing work?
The second number in each size is your approximate height in centimetres — so 4/170 suits someone around 170cm. If you’re between sizes or carry more weight in your midsection, size up. Use the size chart on the product page to check your measurements.
How long does this gi take to air dry?
Allow 24 hours or more depending on humidity. 350gsm fabric holds more water than lighter gis. If you train daily, having two gis in rotation makes this easier to manage.
Can I put this gi in the dryer?
No. The dryer will shrink the gi and stiffen the fabric. Always air dry — hang it up or lay it flat. Keep it out of direct sunlight when drying to help the colour last longer.
